Some say a creative person can't also be an organized one.

Don't believe that for a second!

Look at your internet browser tabs. Can you tell what's what?

If not, this techie tip is for you.

If you're one of those folks who has a hundred tabs open at once, this tip is for you.

Do you have a dozen blog posts you've promised to read? This tip will help you, too.

Have different projects open and can't find what you want? Keep reading.

Google Chrome recently launched a feature called Group Tabs. To use it, you only need to be able to click on a tab with your mouse or trackpad, navigate a short menu, and name the group.

The following process will work for any situation, but for simplicity's sake, let's say you're in the process of designing business cards. You have several tabs open and it's difficult to tell what they are. For example, you've got a blog post by an industry professional about business cards for authors, Canva for designing your card–probably five or six versions– and three tabs for companies that will print your masterpiece.

Start by clicking on the first tab you want to put in a group.

Right click the tab.

When the menu appears, slide your cursor down to Add Tab to Group. Another menu will appear below your tab. Click New Group.

Enter a name in the box. Choose a color for the tab.

Click Save Group if you want to access your tab group from other devices.

Right-click the next tab you want to group.

Click Add Tab to a Group, then slide the cursor to the group name you just created and click.

Repeat the process with all the tabs you want to place in the group.

Notice that the color you chose forms a frame (or underlines in Windows) around the tabs you've grouped together.

Click the Group Tab to collapse the set of tabs.

Now you have an organized browser window!

Once in a while, Google changes how things are done. Give me a shout if my instructions don't work and I'll do my best to update them.

You know me - I'm not that techy. My folders organized with categories work for me:

authors, Bible, finances, health, genealogy, ministries, quilting, etc
