In the beginning…

It all started with Compassion International.

No, really.

Many years ago, my husband Kevin and I sponsored a child through Compassion. Like before-9/11-years ago. That led to becoming a Child Advocate for Compassion, which got us involved in volunteering at Compassion artist events. Enter my friend Becky Antkowiak, who was a volunteer coordinator. We corresponded via email about those events, and eventually we became Facebook friends.

Then God spoke to Becky and inspired her to form a support group for writers. My initial interest was in proofreading/editing, but Becky asked if I’d ever considered writing.

Ummm. No.

The next day, during my quiet time with the Lord, He impressed upon me He wanted me to write a book.

I admit, I argued a little. But I obeyed.

That support group? It’s the 540 Writers Community. The name was born from the idea if you write 540 words a day for six months, you’d end up with a 100,000-word manuscript. That’s nearly 300 pages.

So I did it.

The Sandcastle Series emerged. The first in the series is Castles in the Sand. (See my publications page for details.) It’s written and going through the professional editing and publication process. The second book is Footprints in the Sand, which I expect to finish writing this spring.
